SMILES CIL is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization committed to providing a wide array of services that assist individuals with disabilities to live independently, pursue meaningful goals, and enjoy the same opportunities and choices as all persons.

Services include: Information & Referral, Advocacy, Peer Counseling and Independent Living Skills Training to people with disabilities. Programs include Assistive Technology and Environment Access, Residential Ramps (temporary, portable or permanent), Social and Recreational Activities (fishing, boating, skiing, baseball, theme parties, hobby and Wii nights)
Personal Care Assistance Choice program, Transition from high school to community, Community Education and Training and Special Events (electronics recycling, annual Block Party).

SMILES can provide curriculum and instruction for Homemaking, menu planning, budgeting and time management, employment soft skills (successful on the job characteristics and behavior), personal safety, emergency and disaster preparedness, socializing (making and keeping friends), among other options individuals may choose from.

SMILES provides in-home and community supports to individuals who qualify to receive assistance through the Developmental Disability (DD) Community Alternatives for Disabled Individuals (CADI), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) waivers or Semi-Independent Living Services (SILS).

SMILES also serves military veterans through an independent skills partnership with Vocational Rehabilitative Services (DEED) and provides space for Gillette Children’s Mobile Outreach Clinic.
